BELIEFS

What we believe at Commission Church:

Our Beliefs

At Commission Church, we believe in a deep, living, and active faith. Our Christian faith is difficult to articulate both quickly and holistically.

However, the Apostles Creed listed is a widely affirmed and accepted summary of the Christian faith.

Below, we have also listed some short summaries of other topical areas of our Christian faith.

The Apostles Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty,

   creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit

and born of the virgin Mary.

     He suffered under Pontius Pilate,

     was crucified, died, and was buried;

     he descended to hell.

The third day he rose again from the dead.

     He ascended to heaven

and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.

From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

     the holy universal church,

     the communion of saints,

     the forgiveness of sins,

     the resurrection of the body,

     and the life everlasting. Amen.

JESUS CHRISt: Lord of all

Jesus Christ is at the center of everything. Jesus is the King of all things, and as his people we seek to build and grow his Kingdom on Earth as it is in Heaven. We believe that Jesus is the only one who can reconcile us to God.

THE TRINITY

We believe in one eternal God who is the Creator of all things. He exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. This miraculous communion is a difficult to grasp. The Athanasian Creed is a helpful aid for engaging the Trinity.

The bible

We believe that the Bible is God’s word for us. It is accurate in its aim, authoritative over our actions, and applicable to our everyday lives. When read and interpreted with honor, the Bible cannot fail to guide us in our faith.

THE SEPARATION

We believe that sin has separated each of us from God and His purpose for our lives.

THE RECONCILIATION

We believe that in order to receive forgiveness and reconciliation with God, we must repent of our sins, believe in Jesus, and commit to His will for our lives. As King, Jesus demands our actions align with him. Those who seek to be restored to God follow and obey his commands.

THE CHURCH

The Church of Jesus functions as his hands and feet in the world today. We build and further his Kingdom as we await his return. We believe in the power and significance of the Church and the necessity of believers to meet regularly together.

Our Blessed Hope

Jesus teaches that he will come to earth again. His physical return marks the pinnacle of his reign. His return will be in power and glory. All who have suffered with Christ and become like him—through belief and fruit—will receive their glory as heirs with Christ, the one and true King!
